Just show up Matt, we'll help you any way we can. Don't worry about the weather, it will be there and so will we.

Hi Nick that was a very nice flight you had there too. Just so you know we should have a vendor at our April launch next year ,usually Ken Allen of Performance Hobbies;
No matter where you get the motor any rocket vendor will sell the motor you need to get your L1, (an 'H' or an "I'). It's just if you buy from a vendor who will be at the launch he can bring it with him and save you Hazmat fees you would incur with shipping through the mail.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I hope all of you are looking forward to attending our Black Friday Launch for the next two days. It looks like the weather is going to cooperate for us, both days will be in the low 50's with Friday being the sunniest day.
I hope to see many of you there.

Hi RHaufman,
Letting the club know about your intent to Certify L3 is appreciated but not needed yet. I will start by asking are you going to cert through the NAR or Tripoli? Either way you do it I have some information to send you. I would also like to know your name so I could add a file in my records for you. Could you send me an email as well so I have a direct way to communicate with you? My email address is

I look forward to helping mentor you through you L3 process.

OK so since your going through Tripoli, you will need two TAP's to approve your build. Can you put together a proposal so we can send it off to Jim Livingston so he can be your second TAP. Jim comes up from SC every year to his house on Conesus Lake every summer. he is a club member and comes to the launches and flies with us while he's here but I don't think he is on the club forum. You only need one TAP to witness the flight but two have to sign off on the build.
I can give you Jim's Email and Phone number but not on a public forum. Let me know if you would like to contact him.

Dave, remind me please, NAR or TRA L3? I've been following along with the whole Build process and you've been doing a beautiful job. Just let me ask please, can you give me at least a weeks notice that you are going to go for your cert flight. I didn't know that you were planning on trying in September until the Monday after, this way we can make sure that I haven't planned anything else and can be there for you. Like for this October Launch, I already have two L3 Certs to do and Sunday is my 24 wedding anniversary and I plan to leave by 1 PM to go take Linda to dinner.
So it would help if a head of time that I knew that you were planning on trying for a certain launch.
Thanks, Dutch

Greg Young from MARS just announced that they are hosting NAR's NSL (National Sport Launch) on memorial weekend next year instead of NYPOWER.

I want to wish the hard working Good people of MARS lots of luck with this event.

Hi Luke, we always have a few 1010 rails set up on the range. What size motor are you planning to fly in your rocket?

I'm really looking forward to this Launch. Due to my involvement as BFR Manager at URRF 4 I wasn't able to fly any of the rockets I had planned to there. So I will be doing my best to fly them all in July. Any Idea if the Launch tower will be available to use at least with the 1515 rail on it? A Mega Weasel with a 1515 on it would work, but I would really like to use the tower if possible. Also due to the last minute rain shower on Sunday at URRF 4, two of my Level 3 Certifications had to scrap their effort, both plan to be at the July Launch so other than my flights that I want to do I'll be helping them with theirs too.
No matter what, July should be an interesting launch to be at, looking forward to it. Who is the Launch Director for that launch by the way?
Inquiring minds want to know. :)

7/18 update; I was just contacted by another L3 Cert candidate who was not able to make it to URRF 4. He is also hoping to be at the July launch to try to achieve his L3 Cert. Looks like I'm going to be busy again. At least Larry, our new Prefect, can handle any and all L1 and L2 Certs, see ya all there.

Don't you just love it when someone takes the time to figure it out, and then answers their own question? Good for you sir.

To the two teams doing their NASA SLI launches out in Potter this Saturday Morning, I want to wish both of them the best of luck with their flights. To the Cornell team under Dan Sheerer and the RPI team under Jody Johnson.
