How to post photos and videos
« on: November 18, 2015, 01:01:46 PM »
many times people have a nice picture but for the life of them they can't figure out how to get it on the forum >:(. Here are two methods to share your photos.

Link a photo
This is the preferred method for three reasons.
-One the photo is stored in your own photo sharing/storing location and can be linked to any site and viewed from anywehre.
-Two, it uses less space on the server for URRG. (not a big deal, we now have unlimited server space)
-Three, it puts the full size image right into the body of your post.

Here is how it works....
Choose your favorite place to upload all your photos. I use google photos, which is super convenient if you are using gmail and also if you have an android phone. Other options include flicker, photobucket, and many other free sites. Just upload you pictures to the site and now you can link to them from anywhere. In most cases when you are viewing an image all you have to do is right click on the picture and select "copy image URL"
Once you have the image URL copied you can then click on the insert image icon above the text window where you post, and paste the image url between the two "img" things in brackets. that should show the image in your post. click preview to make sure it works.

Attach an image
This method works fine and some people prefer the simplicity of it. Simply click on the attachments button below the text widow and select your image from your computer and upload it. File size does matter here, currently the file size on this forum is limited to 5000KB or 4.88MB. Now days most cameras will often make image files larger than that. An easy solution is on your computer, open the image in whatever image editing software you have and re-scale the image down to the size you want it to be on the screen. Even microsoft Paint works for this. Do a "Save as" on your computer then upload that image, which will be a much smaller file size. Doing this on a phone can be a pain, which is another reason I prefer to use the link image method.

How to Post a video...
this is really easy. If you want to post your own video, just upload it to your youtube account. You can easily share ANY youtube video, just copy the video URL and paste it in your post. You don't have to use an embedding link, just the basic youtube link and it will automatically embed the video into your post. easy peasy  8)
